Principal Engineer - Enterprise Architecture
We're partnering with a highly regarded Melbourne organisation embarking on a significant technology transformation and are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership across enterprise-wide initiatives.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing engineering direction and bridging the gap between architecture and delivery.
Rather than managing a team, you'll become the organisation's senior engineering authority, partnering closely with executive stakeholders, architects, engineers and delivery teams to ensure technology solutions are scalable, secure and built for the future.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll play a critical role across strategic technology initiatives, including:
- Providing technical leadership across major transformation programs
- Leading solution design for complex enterprise initiatives
- Translating architectural strategy into practical engineering outcomes
- Reviewing and governing technical designs, ensuring quality, scalability and security
- Establishing engineering standards, design patterns and technical best practices
- Supporting project teams through complex technical decisions and implementation challenges
- Working closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure successful delivery
- Identifying opportunities to modernise platforms, reduce technical debt and improve engineering capability
About You
You'll bring a strong engineering background combined with the ability to influence technical direction across a complex enterprise environment.
We're looking for someone with experience across:
- Enterprise Solution Architecture
- Software Engineering
- Cloud Platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred)
- Enterprise Integration and API architecture
- Event-driven architecture
- DevOps and modern engineering practices
- Security-by-design principles
- Technical governance and architecture reviews
- Large-scale enterprise transformation programs
Just as importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys mentoring technical teams, challenging assumptions constructively and translating complex technical concepts into practical business outcomes.
