Technical Product Owner
About Role
We are partnering with a well-established organisation to appoint a Technical Product Owner to lead an API-led transformation within a customer-facing product environment. This role will take ownership of API products end to end, including driving a SOAP to REST migration across the portfolio.Operating in a hands-on capacity, you will work closely with engineering, architecture, and external API consumers to shape product direction and support high-quality delivery. This position requires someone comfortable balancing customer needs, technical constraints, and commercial priorities.
This is an initial 6-month day rate contract suited to someone who enjoys working across both product and technical domains, with clear ownership of outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver API products across the full product lifecycle
- Lead the transformation from SOAP to REST across existing services
- Engage with customers and API consumers to shape product direction and priorities
- Define and maintain API documentation, including Swagger/OpenAPI specifications
- Work closely with engineering and architecture teams to deliver scalable solutions
- Manage product backlogs, ensuring clear prioritisation aligned to business outcomes
- Balance customer needs, technical constraints, and commercial considerationsExperience & Skills
- Strong experience with APIs and system integration (REST and SOAP) * Proven experience as a Product Owner within API or platform environments
- Ability to engage confidently with external customers and partners
- Hands-on experience with API documentation and backlog management
- Commercial awareness with a focus on delivery outcomes
Nice to Have
- Experience within the Australian property, conveyancing, or registry domain
