About the role

As the Principal Cyber Security Engineer, you will act as the senior technical authority for cyber security, driving strategy, architecture, and continuous improvement across the organisation's security framework. This is a highly influential role, partnering closely with executive stakeholders while leading incident response and uplifting cyber maturity across the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading the response to complex and high-impact cyber security incidents across the organisation
  • Defining and driving cyber security strategy, standards, policies, and best practices aligned with regulatory and business requirements
  • Architecting, implementing, and continuously improving security controls across systems, networks, and applications
  • Acting as the highest technical escalation point for cyber security engineering matters
  • Driving organisation-wide uplift in cyber security maturity through assessments, audits, training, and advanced security technologies


About you

  • 6+ years' experience in senior cyber security roles, ideally within a regulated or financial services environment
  • Strong hands-on experience across Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux/UNIX, networking, and PowerShell scripting
  • Expertise with SIEM platforms (Splunk preferred), PAM solutions, firewalls/WAF, penetration testing, and application security
  • Infra as code experience
  • Solid Azure background
  • Proven capability leading incident response and managing multiple priorities in high-pressure scenarios
  • Excellent communication skills, a strong customer-service mindset, and the ability to engage effectively with non-technical stakeholders
